About Me

Jayda Jones (she/her) is a Black, femme, queer, New York City–based director and producer who has led over 22 theatrical and multimedia productions across the city, known for making bold art with brave people and building spaces that heal while disrupting the norm.

Homegrown in the projects of southwestern Pennsylvania, Jayda brings a people-first, identity-driven approach to every room she enters. Her creative ethos is rooted in empathy, equity, and experimentation—centering community care, deep listening, and a commitment to subverting monolithic portrayals of Black and Brown lives.

Jayda’s work spans new plays, devised pieces, reimagined classics, and hybrid performance formats. Whether directing an intimate workshop or producing a multi-venue tour, she is known for leading with clarity, rigor, and trust—cultivating rehearsal rooms where artists can take risks and audiences are invited into complex truths.

In addition to her artistic work, Jayda teaches and mentors emerging creatives through workshops and coaching that blend storytelling, production strategy, and personal empowerment. She’s passionate about helping others build sustainable creative careers that reflect who they truly are—onstage and off.

Her projects have been presented at The Tank, Theatre Asylum, Fordham University, and in festivals across NYC and New Jersey. She has also served as a theater manager for top-tier film festivals including Tribeca and Hamptons International, bridging live performance with large-scale event operations.
