Director. Belly and the Beast: An American Love Story is a choreopoem of Black women both internally and ritualistically discovering how to heal, for themselves, a wounded social perception on their existence and procreation. The piece, written by Anthropologist Dr. Haile Eshe Cole, follows six chorally-bonded Black women as they lean on one another’s spirit and ancestry to bring to the forefront both the historic and contemporary cultural foundations Black womanhood and motherhood have gifted to the United States. Concert reading at the Episcopal Actor's Guild in NYC.
